Hello, Hola, Ciao, Salut!
My name is Laura Adele Soracco, and I currently teach English composition courses to first year college students in the Seattle area.
My interest in teaching began by tutoring students who were learning Italian and Spanish, which are both languages I grew up speaking. Later on, I got to work as a teacher trainer for a reading program in public schools around the United States (Texas, North Dakota, Oregon, and California), which made me realize I loved this profession. For most of my teaching careeer, I have taught English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) to students pursuing their undergraduate degrees in Colombia, the USA, China, and most recently, Turkey.
Some of my current interests are related to media and digital literacy, writing instruction, sociolinguistics (linguistic heritage), project-based learning, and action research.
Aside from teaching English, I am passionate about analogue and digital photography, music, poetry, traveling, and vegetarian and Italian cooking.
You may find some of my analogue photos by visiting this website.
